Investigators, firefighters, and civilians gathered at via D'Amelio immediately following the attack, which also resulted in the death of Judge Paolo Borsellino and his escort team.The Strage di Capaci, another terrorist attack carried out by the Sicilian Mafia, occurred on May 23rd, 1992, on Highway A29 near the Capaci exit in Sicily. These brutal attacks serve as grim reminders of the Mafia's reign of terror in Sicily during that time.
In the aftermath of the Palermo attack, Judge Paolo Borsellino was reportedly wounded, according to early police reports.
